You will have the opportunity to build and shape your own summer experience through substantive assignments, robust training, multifaceted mentorship, client engagement and social events
2L Summer Program
Each year we participate in on-campus interview programs and resume collections at the nation’s most competitive law schools. We also encourage qualified applicants to apply directly via our online application portal.
2L Pauli Murray Fellowship
Open to all, our 2L Fellowship honors former Paul, Weiss associate Pauli Murray (1956).
Meaningful Assignments
Summer associates don’t just work on discrete assignments, they are immersed in their matters and are integral members of their teams. As a summer associate you will:
- Work directly on high-profile, transformative deals; industry-shaping litigations; and one-of-a-kind restructurings
- Be able to select assignments from various practice groups and subject matters as well as have opportunities to work on a broad range of impactful pro bono matters
- Have opportunities to sit in on negotiations, depositions, conference calls, court hearings and more
Mentorship & Inclusion
Summer associates don’t just work on discrete assignments, they are immersed in their matters and are integral members of their teams. As a summer associate you will:
- Paired with a partner mentor and an associate mentor
- Invited to join firmwide Networks which are open to all (Asian-Pacific Lawyers, Black Lawyers, Family, Latine Lawyers, Pride @ Work and Women)
- Invited to a variety of panel discussions, Network events, trainings and more, providing access to additional layers of support and mentorship

Training & Career Development
We are committed to our summer associates’ learning and development. As a summer associate you will:
- Receive intensive training in a mix of practical skills workshops and more traditional classroom-style presentations
- Learn about diverse areas of law and practical legal skills, such as performing due diligence on an M&A transaction; writing effectively; clarifying commonly used business jargon; managing assignments and adding value as a junior associate on your matters; and developing real-world advocacy writing and public speaking skills
- Benefit from individualized coaching in areas such as presentation and writing skills
Our Summer Program Locations
Our summer program is based out of our New York; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Washington, D.C.; Wilmington; and Toronto offices. During the program, summer associates experience what it is really like to work at Paul, Weiss, immersing themselves in each office’s key practice areas and getting to know the lawyers at each location.
Summer associates at all of our offices will participate in a variety of fantastic social events, including at iconic venues within each location. Past events have included Shakespeare in the Park, tours of the capital’s landmarks and trips to wine country. There are also opportunities for summer associates from all of our offices to attend trainings and marquee social events at our New York office.
