Litigation partner Kannon Shanmugam was interviewed on the July 12 episode of “The Dispatch,” a podcast hosted by The Atlantic columnist David French and former Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur. In the episode, “Supreme Court Term Wrap Up with Kannon Shanmugam,” Kannon discussed the recent Supreme Court term, touching on some of the most impactful decisions. He spoke about the decisions in the three cases he argued, including Oklahoma v. Castro Huerta, which he argued successfully and which dealt with the state’s jurisdiction over certain crimes on Native American tribal land, and City of Austin v. Reagan National Advertising of Austin, a First Amendment case. He also spoke about the court’s approach to issues of statutory interpretation and how he keeps all the facts of his often overlapping cases straight in his head, among other topics.
