Firm Chairman Brad Karp and litigation partner Erin Morgan were featured in a Q&A on Paul, Weiss’s General Commercial Litigation practice in the 2025 edition of “Practice Perspectives: Vault’s Guide to Legal Practice Areas.” In the Q&A, Brad and Erin describe the breadth of Paul, Weiss’s litigation practice and what sets the practice apart.
“Paul, Weiss’s litigation department handles a remarkably broad variety of matters,” says Brad. “We are also, first and foremost, trial lawyers; every case is prepared as if it will go to trial. So litigation associates at the firm have ample opportunities for hands-on courtroom experience, working alongside the best trial lawyers in the country.”
Brad and Erin also discuss the kinds of litigation experience summer associates can gain at the firm, as well as what they like best and find most challenging about practicing litigation.
“The hardest thing about general commercial litigation is also what makes it fun: We’re always grappling with new problems,” Erin says. “General commercial matters are also some of the biggest and most existential matters that our clients face. They can be daunting because the stakes are so high, but they also provide opportunities to make a real difference.”
