Litigation counsel Anna Gressel participated in two panels on AI regulation at the “Festival of Diplomacy” in Rome. The first panel, “The AI Act,” featured an EU rapporteur on this landmark EU regulatory proposal that aims to guarantee a long-term regulatory strategy for the development of AI in Europe, with a particular focus on risk management and the protection of rights. The second panel, “Tech for Humanity: Open Standards, Trustworthy AI, and the Common Good,” discussed how emerging technical standards can ensure that AI is developed and used in a way that aligns with regulatory obligations and corporate principles such as privacy, transparency, accountability, inclusivity and general respect for human rights.

This conference has been one of Italy's most important forums for international diplomacy since 2009, with the support and patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Commission and European Parliament representation in Italy, more than 70 embassies, seven universities and numerous scientific partners. It annually gathers EU policymakers, global diplomats and experts from global technology and financial sector companies. Anna’s panels took place on October 23 and 25, respectively.
