Litigation partner Jeh Johnson has been appointed by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy to represent New Jersey in a seven-state council that will coordinate plans across northeastern states to ease COVID-19-related restrictions and reopen parts of the economy. The council will include officials from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania , Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as a health and an economic development expert. Relying on available scientific, statistical, social, and economic information to evaluate when and how to lift COVID-19 restrictions, the council will create a framework to gradually lift the states' stay-at-home orders while minimizing the risk of the virus’ renewed spread.
