Litigation partners Geoff Chepiga, Kannon Shanmugam and Ted Wells, of counsel Walter Ricciardi and associate Sarah Prostko were recognized in The American Lawyer’s “Litigation Daily” column for securing the dismissal of all remaining claims against Guy Elliott, the former CFO of mining giant Rio Tinto, in a case originally filed by the SEC in 2017 against Elliott, the mining giant and its former CEO concerning the company’s financial reporting.
After the defendants knocked out the SEC’s fraud claims on summary judgment in 2021 and Elliott’s co-defendants settled negligence-based books and records claims in 2023, the SEC finally filed a stipulation last week dismissing all remaining claims against Elliott with prejudice, without any settlement.
