A partner in the Capital Markets Group, Uma Sud represents private equity sponsors and corporate issuers on complex finance and capital markets transactions, including high-yield offerings, initial public offerings, liability management exercises and other capital markets products in connection with leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations and restructurings.

Uma completed a six-month secondment at I Squared Capital in London during 2024-2025, where she advised on finance and capital markets matters for the leading independent global infrastructure investor with over $45 billion of assets under management.

Prior to Paul, Weiss, Uma’s experience has included advising:

  • TDR Capital and I Squared Capital on their leveraged buyout of the Applus Group, including an inaugural offering of €895 million senior secured notes by the Applus Group
  • TDR Capital and its portfolio companies on multiple financing transactions, including
    • Stonegate Group on its inaugural offering of £400 million senior secured notes in 2014 through to its acquisition and take-private of Ei Group plc in 2020 involving a an offering of £1.7 billion (equivalent) senior secured and a private placement of £500 million senior secured notes
    • Lincoln Financing on an offering of €400 million senior secured PIK toggle notes in connection with a dividend recapitalization and an offering of €500 million senior secured notes in connection with a refinancing
  • KKR and United Group on multiple financing transactions, including United Group’s offering of €1.35 billion senior secured notes in connection with the financing of certain acquisitions and the refinancing of existing debt
  • Blackstone and Alliance Automotive Group on multiple financing transactions, including Alliance Automotive Group’s offering of €180 million senior secured notes and €70 million senior secured notes in connection with the financing of certain acquisitions
  • Bridgepoint Group plc on its US private placement of $430 million of notes to finance strategic growth plans and refinance certain acquisition debt
  • Takko Fashion Gmbh in connection with its successful cross-border restructuring involving, a transfer of ownership to certain of Takko Fashion’s noteholders and a comprehensive recapitalization
  • Ad hoc group of noteholders of senior secured notes issued by Quatrim S.A.S. in connection with the successful completion of a comprehensive restructuring by Casino Group
