A counsel in the firm’s Investment Funds Group, Matthew focuses his practice on the organization and operation of a wide variety of private investment funds, including private equity funds, hedge funds, credit funds, hybrid funds and real asset funds. He also has experience in the formation and operation of co-investment vehicles, seed transactions, funds-of-one and separately managed accounts for a wide array of U.S. and non-U.S. investors. Matthew has significant experience in regulatory compliance and SEC inquiries.
Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, Matthew spent over 15 years as in-house counsel at various private fund managers and startups. During this time, he negotiated and managed the process for a number of private investments, managed back office firm operations and monitored contractual obligations and private funding rounds, as well as managing all compliance and regulatory issues.
Matthew’s representative clients include Avenue Capital Group, Catalio Capital Management, Davidson Kempner, HPS Investment Partners, Hudson Bay Capital, Millennium Management and SRS Investment Management.
