An associate in the Litigation Department, Calum Agnew represents clients in complex commercial litigation, international arbitration and investment treaty matters.

Calum represents clients in the mining, oil and gas, telecommunications, transportation and insurance sectors, with a focus on energy and natural resources disputes. He also advises mining and energy clients on investment structuring, dispute risk and transactions involving sovereign and state-owned counterparties.

Calum maintains a broad commercial litigation practice in U.S. federal and state courts. He has represented clients in commercial disputes, transaction-related litigation, and real estate, consumer protection and employment matters. Calum’s experience spans all phases of litigation, including dispositive motion practice, complex discovery, expert development and trial preparation.

Calum has acted for sovereigns in International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes arbitrations arising under bilateral investment treaties across Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and both for and adverse to state-owned enterprises in commercial disputes. He has handled matters for commercial parties worldwide in International Chamber of Commerce, London Court of International Arbitration and ad hoc arbitrations. Calum has handled arbitration-related matters before U.S. and foreign courts, including proceedings to compel or resist arbitration and to annul or enforce awards.

Calum maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in criminal appeals and post-conviction proceedings in state court, civil rights actions in federal court, and immigration matters.

Calum has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Energy & Natural Resources for 2025-2026. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss, he was an associate in a leading international arbitration practice in New York. Calum clerked for judges of the Court of Appeal for Ontario from 2020 to 2021. In 2021, Chief Justice B. Richard Bell of the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada recognized Calum’s contributions to the Court with the Court’s annual commendation, conferred on one recipient each year. Before law school, he worked as an analyst at a global risk and intelligence consultancy in London.
