Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Co-Chair John Carlin co-wrote the second edition of Cybersecurity Law Fundamentals alongside Professor James Dempsey, a former member of the U.S. Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board under President Obama and current senior policy advisor to the Stanford Program on Geopolitics, Technology and Governance. The book is both a primer and a reference volume on the latest developments in U.S. cybersecurity law for cybersecurity practitioners, generalists and newcomers to the field alike. The topics covered include data breach notification and incident reporting; liability for insecure products and software; federal and state cybersecurity statutes, regulations and guidelines; regulatory enforcement from the Federal Trade Commission and other agencies; criminal law; and national security economic controls, trade limits and equipment bans, among others.
