Digital Technology Group Chair Katherine Forrest’s latest Technology Today column, “The Emerging World of AI Agents,” appeared in the April 30 issue of the New York Law Journal. In the article, Katherine explores the capabilities, both exciting and concerning, of AI agents. These agents are essentially AI assistants that use a multimodal large language model to autonomously carry out multidimensional tasks across multiple digital environments, such as booking the various elements of a vacation or organizing medical care for a geriatric patient. Katherine also examines the complex legal issues raised by the specter of AI agents, such as data privacy and cybersecurity concerns, and liability questions around the possibility of AI agents going rogue.
