Litigation partner Loretta Lynch was featured in a Law360 article about her recent appointment to mediate a dispute between the Federal Defenders of New York and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The dispute began in 2019 after a power outage at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn allegedly led to attorneys being denied access to their clients. On March 20, 2020, the Second Circuit urged that the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York act quickly to resolve the case in the midst of the coronavirus crisis. Loretta was appointed as mediator by U.S. District Judge Margo Brodie on March 23. In response to Loretta's appointment, Chris Dunn, Legal Director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said “The fact that she’s the one who’s going to be handling this is very encouraging. If there’s anyone who can get a resolution, it’s her.”
