Artificial Intelligence Group Chair Katherine Forrest spoke with Politico about the ongoing evolution of artificial intelligence and its potential within the legal industry. In “Five Questions for Katherine B. Forrest,” published on October 3, Katherine discusses books that shaped her conception of the future, an idea she thinks is overhyped, AI-related surprises from the past year, how the government could improve its use of technology and why AI translation of legalese is underrated.
 
“Being able to upload a legal paper and say to your model, ‘Hey, tell me what this means’ at whatever level is appropriate – 10th grade, eighth grade, fourth grade, and in whatever language … is an incredibly powerful tool,” she says.
