Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced today that Max Oppenheimer and Jamie MacDonagh will join the firm as partners in the Private Equity M&A Group within the Corporate Department, resident in London. Oppenheimer and MacDonagh advise private equity sponsors and corporate clients on the full range of private equity, and public and private company M&A transactions. They join the firm following the recent addition of a team of six private equity lawyers in the U.S., including Christopher Machera, the former co-head of another international law firm’s private equity group, further establishing the firm as one of the preeminent advisors to global private equity sponsors.

“Max is widely regarded as a private equity M&A star, with deep experience advising major sponsors on some of their most significant transactions in Europe,” said Neel Sachdev, vice chair of the firm and co-head of the London office. “He and Jamie will further strengthen our global M&A platform and add to the 14 M&A partners in London, and we are delighted to welcome them both to the firm.”

“We are proud of the global private equity platform we have built to bring clients the best advice on their most sophisticated transactions,” said Matthew Abbott, vice chair of the firm and global co-chair of the M&A practice. “The addition of Max and Jamie comes on the heels of top-notch partner arrivals in the U.S. and further cements our strength.”

“Max and Jamie’s sophisticated transactional practice spans the full spectrum of private equity, and public and private company M&A dealmaking,” said Roger Johnson, global co-chair of the M&A practice and co-head of the London office. “We are thrilled to have them join us in London.”
