UK-based financial data company MergerLinks ranked corporate partner Scott Barshay as the highest-ranked M&A lawyer in North America in 2021 by value of announced deals. MergerLinks noted that Scott worked on 13 deals valued at roughly $100 billion. Among Scott’s major deals last year were General Electric in the more than $30 billion combination of its jet leasing unit, GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), with AerCap Holdings; Nuance Communications in its $19.7 billion sale to Microsoft Corp.; Merck & Co. in its $11.5 billion acquisition of Acceleron Pharma; and Qualcomm Inc. in its $4.5 billion acquisition, alongside SSW Partners, of Veoneer, Inc.
