Litigation partners Brad Karp, Susanna Buergel and Gregory Laufer were recognized by The American Lawyer’s “Litigation Daily” column on February 10 for winning the dismissal of a high-stakes putative shareholder class action against electric vehicle manufacturer Nikola Corporation and certain current or former officers and directors. Despite the founder’s criminal fraud conviction last fall, U.S. District Judge Steven Logan in the District of Arizona dismissed the case, finding the plaintiffs failed to allege an adequate connection between alleged misrepresentations about the company and investor losses, and failed to adequately allege intent on the part of our clients to commit fraud, among others. Litigation associates Alison Benedon and Meaghan Brennan were also recognized for their contributions to the win.
