Global M&A Chair Rob Kindler was a featured guest on the June 12 episode of the M&A Science podcast. In “M&A Lawyers vs. Bankers: What’s Changed and What Still Matters” with host Kison Patel, Rob discusses dealmaking trends throughout his career, including the changing role of a lawyer early in M&A transactions, the growth of deal activism as an investment class, and the varying regulatory challenges for dealmaking in changing administrations. Rob reflects on notable moments in his career, key negotiating skills, and traits as an M&A lawyer that he has applied to find success. “The most important thing when you’re doing a deal is to be commercial,” Rob says. “I find that the lawyers and bankers who are the most commercial and recognize what’s really important and what’s not important, they do the best for their client.”
