Corporate partner Laura Turano spoke with The American Lawyer about the potential impact of artificial intelligence on associate work and hiring. In “How Are AI-Equipped Associates Spending Their Time?” published on June 23, Laura says that as AI takes on more routine work, associates will have more time to think strategically and ask questions. “We hope that the time for reflection allows them to learn and grow more quickly,” Laura says. Still, she doesn’t expect AI to significantly change how the firm hires associates. “You want to make sure this person has the qualities of a Paul, Weiss lawyer,” she notes. “What is most important is I want people who come with their North Star being client excellence.”
