“Large pharma companies have incredibly successful products. But we're seeing a continuing trend where they are looking forward into the future because they have patent cliffs coming up where they're going to lose exclusivity to those products,” Krishna says. “They're trying to focus on buying assets — which tend to be [developed at] smaller biotech companies — to build out their pipeline for the future.”
