Litigation counsel Audrey Paquet was featured in a Cybersecurity and AI Law Report article about how software vendors are using customer data to train AI, and the practices these companies use to get that information.
In “Negotiating Limits on Software Vendors’ Use of Customer Data to Train AI,” published on November 4, Audrey says that many software-as-a-service companies’ AI capabilities are enabled with no customer oversight or knowledge. In this environment, AI can access data from companies whose employees sign up for the free tiers of applications, complete click-through purchase orders that don’t undergo rigorous review or use individually expensed tool subscriptions, she explains. Audrey’s quotes were reported during her participation in a recent International Association of Privacy Professionals panel.
