Paul, Weiss is advising Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) in its sale to EQT AB for a total consideration of €6.8 billion (approximately $7.5 billion), consisting of 191.2 million new ordinary EQT shares, valued at €5.3 billion, and €1.5 billion in cash. BPEA is a leading private markets investment firm in Asia with €17.7 billion of assets under management. The combination ideally positions EQT, a purpose-driven global investment organization, to execute on the structural growth opportunity in Asian private markets, which are expected to grow at almost twice the rate of global private markets. The combined Asian Private Capital business will be rebranded as BPEA EQT Asia and will continue to be led by BPEA CEO Jean Eric Salata and BPEA’s senior management team. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The Paul, Weiss team includes, among others, corporate partner Marco Masotti, and counsel Erika Detjen and Marc Palumbo; and tax partner David Mayo.
