Corporate partner Laura Turano was featured in a Q&A as one of the The Deal’s “Top Women in Dealmaking.” The annual recognition honors women attorneys who have made significant contributions to M&A, private equity, restructuring and activism over the past year. In a Q&A published on May 10, Laura discussed some of her most interesting and impactful deals, including for Baker Hughes in its $38 billion merger with Halliburton, and its recent complicated joint venture with Akastor, and Carrier Global in the sale of its UK-based Chubb fire and security business. An important ingredient to being a successful dealmaker and good mentor to others, she noted, is an ability to have empathy.
“Great preparation is also the best way for any young lawyer to overcome a lack of experience. If you’ve really done your homework, the client will trust you and rely on you, regardless of your age or seniority level,” says Laura.
