Corporate partners Jeff Marell and Cullen Sinclair were spotlighted as nationally leading media and entertainment dealmakers by The Hollywood Reporter in its “Hollywood’s Top Dealmakers of 2022” list. The Hollywood Reporter highlighted the firm’s representation of MGM in its sale to Amazon; Hemisphere Media in its acquisition of the Spanish-language streaming service Pantaya and its subsequent sale to TelevisaUnivision; and media conglomerate Advance in Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia from AT&T.
As advisers to MGM, Jeff says that he and Cullen navigated “significant regulatory matters and ownership issues related to its sprawling intellectual property portfolio.” Cullen says the challenge was to give “Amazon the protections they were looking for around how the IP could be used; but also stay onside of the antitrust laws and MGM’s business plan.”
The “Top Dealmakers” list recognizes the top media and entertainment executives, lawyers and advisors on the frontlines of industry-shaping transactions over the past year.
