Five Paul, Weiss Deals Make Lexpert’s Top 10 Canadian Deals of 2017

Paul, Weiss set a new firm record on Canadian legal publication Lexpert’s annual list of top-10 deals of the past year. Lexpert’s list noted the firm’s role in the top three Canada-sided deals of 2017, as well as the firm’s involvement in five of the top-10 deals overall.

In the top-ranked deal, Paul, Weiss represented Agrium in its $36 billion merger with Potashcorp to form Nutrien. In the second-ranked deal, it represented Cenovus in its $17.7 billion acquisition of ConocoPhillips assets, among the largest energy acquisitions ever undertaken in Canada. In the third-ranked deal, it represented Manitoba Telecom Services in its $3.1 billion acquisition by BCE. Paul, Weiss was also involved in the sixth- and tenth-ranked deals, respectively: Total Energy Services’ acquisition of Savanna Energy Services and Parkland Fuel’s acquisition of Chevron Canada’s downstream fuel business.
